About Me

Welcome to my digital portfolio!

My name is Kristina Solomita, and I am a Northern California based artist, primarily producing detailed and vibrant paintings. I am also an interdisciplinary artist, working both digitally and traditionally. I am also a writer in both the field of journalism and creative writing, with multiple works published in newspapers and literary journals. Some of my visual works have been inspired by existing poetry or my own published writings. In addition to finding inspiration in poetry, I’m also inspired by the aesthetics and cultures within the Central Valley.

I chose the name “Azalea’s Gallery” to reflect my admiration for the azalea flower. The flower symbolizes passion and care, which are qualities I strive to infuse in every project I take on.

Artist Bio

Kristina Solomita is an artist based in Stanislaus County, whose paintings blend realism and abstract elements, using organic and geometric forms to creative vibrant dimensions of color.  Her passion for art started at a very young age, where she consistently opted to doodle in the corners of her school assignments and found every opportunity to take out her arts and crafts supplies. With the encouragement of a student from the school she was working at in high school, she submitted her first art pieces to be displayed in the Dove Gallery in Milpitas when she was 17. One of her early works,  a multimedia piece titled "A Monroe Complex", garnered the attention of the local newspaper, and the image was published to promote the event.

Originally born and raised in the Bay Area, she took her first formal art class during her second semester at Mission College in San Jose. She transferred to Modesto Junior College in 2019, where she graduated with an Associates in Studio Art in 2022. Transferring to Stanislaus State University in Turlock , CA, she challenged herself to practice different forms of communication through Creative Media- an interdisciplinary major that combines graphic design, videography, photography, and journalism. She became  proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite, primarily with InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.  Over the brief course of her major, she has completed numerous projects under various forms of communication media, including posters, magazine layouts, educational videos, and logo design. A notable project she lead was coordinating a short video educating students at her university about the Creative Media major, which was then featured on her university's newspaper's website, The Signal. She graduated with a BA in Creative Media in 2024. During her time in university, she furthered her writing skills through journalism and creative writing. In addition to having her writings published in newspapers and two of the Penumbra Literary Arts Journals, she was accepted into the 2024 Summer Arts Program “Triple Threat: Writing for Film, Television, and Theater.” There, she developed her storytelling capabilities by working with writers within the entertainment industry.

Kristina's visual works have been featured within venues throughout the Central Valley, including the Mistlin Art Gallery, Modesto Junior College, the Modesto Doubletree Hilton Hotel, California State University Stanislaus, and the Stan State Art Space. She has also placed in multiple art competitions, including 1st place in the Visit Modesto HER in HERO art competition, 1st place in the Modesto Junior College Day of the Dead Competition, and an honorable mention in Stan State’s Juried Student Art Exhibition. Kristina has also been commissioned to illustrate the cover art of two 2024 Chapbooks published by the Penumbra Literary Art Journal.
