Poster Designs for Summer Arts Writing Projects
All three of these posters were designed after a two week intensive writing course for the California Summer Arts program. We had two weeks to conceptualize three different stories, and I was inspired to design posters for each of them. These were updated from an older design I had initially done in acrylic paint, and the ones uploaded here were redone in Adobe Illustrator.
The “Curse of Siargao” poster is based on a short play project, with the logline: “A one week trip extends to two years as Tori, previously a university professor, becomes obsessed with the culture on the island. It seems like paradise, but a storm is brewing in her mind as she loses touch with reality.”
The “Birds of a Feather” poster is based on a short film project with the logline: “In the densely populated city of San Jose, two women from different socioeconomic backgrounds race to meet familial expectations by arriving to the first day at their most important employer.
The film explores the contrasting lives and unexpected similarities between these two women, delving into themes of privilege, responsibility, and the pressure to meet expectations in a rapidly changing world. It asks the question: can two people from such different walks of life find common ground, or will their differences define them?”
The “Train to Nowhere” poster is based on a TV series pitch project, with the logline: During a long train ride to Chicago, four vagabonds develop an unexpected familial bond while running from past oppressors who are trying to bury them alive. All these characters are guarding their secrets, seeking refuge and hope. Next time you’re on a long trip, you may run into some vagabonds yourself.”
